Optimization of using manganese and iron removal sand filter
Sep 21,2018
Purpose:
Generally speaking, iron and manganese removal filters are mainly used to remove iron and manganese in the system, purify water quality; also can be used for water decolorization, deodorization, etc., suitable for food, beverage, papermaking, brewing industry, iron containing water beyond the standard treatment, groundwater, well water as drinking water iron removal, Geothermal Engineering and swimming pool circulating water.
Water quality:
Generally, the water quality of the filter for removing iron and manganese is:
I. iron content: less than 20mg/L;
2. Manganese content: less than 3mg/L;
Water turbidity: <20FTU;
Alkalinity: less than 2mg/L;
.pH value: > 6 (iron removal), > 7.5 (manganese removal).
After treatment, the effect is:
I. iron content: less than 0.3mg/L;
2. Manganese content: less than 0.1mg/L;
The turbidity of effluent is <3FTU.
In fact, users sometimes react that the use of manganese sand filter can not achieve the effect, this paper describes the use of manganese sand filter conditions, as well as optimization methods.
Design conditions of use:
The process of removing iron and manganese should be determined according to the following conditions:
A. when: PH > 6, iron content less than 10mg/L, or manganese content less than 0.5mg/L, single stage treatment;
B.: when PH > 6 and iron content is 10-20mg/L, double series treatment.
C. When: simultaneously contains iron and manganese, and iron content < 2.0 mg/l, manganese content < 1.0 mg/l, - single stage removal of iron and manganese;
D. When both iron and manganese are contained, and the contents exceed the above values, it should be determined by experiment that the first and second removals of iron and manganese are carried out.
E. When both iron and manganese are present, and iron removal is affected by silicate, it should be determined by experiment that two-stage aeration, one-stage iron removal and two-stage manganese removal.
F. PH=5.5-6.0, iron content less than 5mg/L, single stage treatment, but water quality stability pretreatment is needed.
G. When: PH < 5.5 or iron content > 20mg/L, or iron and manganese content are high, the process must be determined according to the water quality.
(3) The pH value of pre-filtration water should be above 7.5, and the iron content of pre-filtration water should be controlled below 0.5 mg/L.
Optimization method:
The iron and manganese removal filter is composed of aeration device and manganese sand filter tank; the low-valent iron and manganese ions in water are oxidized into high-valent iron and manganese ions by oxidation method, and then the iron and manganese content in water is reduced by adsorption and filtration.
Therefore, adequate pre oxidation is very important.
1. Aeration is better than full aeration.
2. Chlorine dioxide oxidation effect is better than aeration.
In addition, the quality of manganese sand is much better than that of inferior manganese sand.
